Dental Implants

Dental implants offer an effective solution for replacing missing teeth and provide a permanent alternative to removable dentures. They offer exceptional support and stability for dental appliances, enhancing the patient’s oral function and appearance.

Implants are artificial roots and teeth, typically made of titanium, surgically inserted into the upper or lower jawbone. The attached teeth are remarkably natural-looking, restoring or improving the patient’s smile significantly. Dental implants are highly durable and robust, ensuring long-lasting results. While they can last for many years, occasional re-tightening or replacement might be necessary due to regular wear.

Situations that may require dental implants include:

The process of getting dental implants involves multiple visits over several months. Initially, X-rays and impressions of the jaw and teeth are taken to assess bone, gum tissue, and spacing for the implant. During a numb period, the implant is surgically placed into the bone, allowing it to heal and integrate for up to six months. Depending on the type of implant, a second surgery might be necessary to attach the “post” holding the artificial tooth. In some cases, the post and anchor are attached simultaneously.

After the implant has healed, artificial teeth are custom-made and fitted to the post. This step may take several weeks as multiple fittings could be required. Once the healing period is complete, the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, ensuring excellent stability and comfort for the patient.

Upon completion of the treatment, patients receive care instructions. Maintaining good oral hygiene, healthy eating habits, and regular dental check-ups are essential to ensure the longevity of the new implant.
