Crowns

Crowns, also known as caps, are coverings that encase the entire tooth surface, restoring it to its original shape and size. They are used to protect and strengthen tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

While there are various types of crowns available, tooth-colored crowns are particularly popular as they closely resemble natural teeth. These crowns are highly durable and can last for many years. However, like most dental restorations, they may eventually require replacement. Crowns are custom-made to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth, providing a natural and long-lasting beautiful smile.

Crowns are recommended for several reasons, including:

The process of getting a crown typically involves two appointments. During the first appointment, precise molds or impressions of your teeth are taken to create a custom crown. A temporary crown, crafted from these molds, will be placed on your tooth and remain in position for approximately two weeks until the permanent crown is ready.

While your tooth is numb, the dentist will remove any decay and shape the surface to fit the crown properly. Once these preparations are complete, the temporary crown will be placed with temporary cement, and your bite will be checked to ensure proper alignment.

At the second appointment, the temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and the new crown will be carefully placed to ensure accurate spacing and bite alignment.

After the crown is placed, you will receive specific care instructions. Regular dental visits are encouraged to monitor the condition of your new crown and ensure its longevity.
